Who We Are

About Trace Crossings Elementary

Our mission for Trace Crossings Elementary School is for all TCES students to be equipped to meet the challenges for the 21st century by learning and working in a safe and collaborative environment that encourages creative and critical thinking.  This mission helps regularly guide the direction of our school.  Administrators, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders often reflect on the mission of the school to make important decisions.  As a team, we recognize the importance of establishing and building critical foundation skills with our students.  Our vision is to Teach, Reach, and Connect every day to promote our continuous commitment to students.  The vision for TCES is to teach with an emphasis on literacy through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.), reach beyond the schoolhouse doors to provide global learning opportunities for teachers and all students, connect academic content with real-world experiences every day while being consistent and intentional about the academic success of each student at our school.

Trace Crossings Elementary School was the first new school built by Hoover City Schools after Hoover formed its own system independent of Jefferson County Schools.  Construction began in the early 1990s and the school opened in time for the 1992-1993 school year.

Opening year enrollment was at capacity: 1,000 students.  Trace Crossings would eventually experience two splits as new schools were built to accommodate growth in this part of Hoover (South Shades Crest and Riverchase elementary schools).

Trace Crossings is the official site for Hoover City Schools’ Pre-School program.  Trace Crossings Elementary's prime location puts it within easy reach of green space/parks/attractions, interstate access and plentiful shopping.  More importantly, its proximity to R.F Bumpus Middle School and Hoover High School provides opportunities for students to interact with older students through activities and mentoring programs.
